A lot rests on examination performance: A level choices, university offers, even career paths. While exams have always been scary, the recent return to linear (non-modular) examinations mean years of study depends on just a few short hours’ performance. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic means many pupils are simply out of practice.

My track record of pupils achieving their potential in examinations ranks among the top performance of teachers nationally. At GCSE and A Level, my pupils have consistently surpassed expectations and gotten the grades they need to continue education or make university offers.

Pre-examination tuition is more intense with a more tactical goal. In this circumstance, I always thoroughly assess your child’s ability and current performance to develop a tailored programme.

Covid-19 Catch Up

Through no fault of their own, many pupils have gaps in their knowledge from time missed out at school due to the pandemic. These gaps are a particular problem in Maths as it is an especially progressive subject - learning it is like building a tower.

1-1 tutoring allows for these gaps to be filled, and enables new learning to be built on solid foundations.

Supporting school learning

Consistent tutoring, on a weekly or fortnightly basis, can be an excellent way of supporting normal school learning.

Many pupils simply lack confidence in Maths. Plenty of students I’ve taught have believed, often for years, that they “can’t do maths” or “numbers don’t make sense to me”.

I believe that interest, engagement, and - believe it or not! - even enjoyment in Maths can be nurtured in every child. Focussed tutoring helps students deepen their skills, broaden their choice of methods, solve more creatively, transfer knowledge more easily, and ultimately achieve more.
